(BENTON COUNTY) - An inmate inside the Benton County Jail was found dead early Thursday morning.
WLFI reports Benton County Sheriff Boston Pritchett said the man was booked into the Benton County Jail around 2:30 Thursday morning, for driving under the influence.
Pritchett said a jail employee went to check on the man around 4:00 a.m., and found him lying on a bench inside of the cell. According to Pritchett, the employee came back to check on him about 30 minutes later, and found him hanging inside the cell.
Pritchett said the man used a mattress cover to hang himself. Pritchett said there is no foul play, and they are ruling this a suicide.
Pritchett said paramedics, officers with the Indiana State Police, and the Benton County coroner were all called to the jail.
