(INDIANAPOLIS) - A 22-year-old man was shot and killed overnight while holding a baby, and another man was shot and injured. The four-month-old infant girl was not injured.
WTHR reports, the shooting occurred around 1:30 am at 16 Park, a new, mixed-income apartment complex on the Indianapolis near north side.
Two men were standing outside an apartment when someone drove up and opened fire. Terrance Williams, 22, was killed. His 24-year-old cousin was shot in the leg. He was taken to Wishard Hospital and is expected to recover.
Although the baby fell from Williams' arms when he was shot, she did not suffer any serious injuries.
The motive for the shooting is unclear. Police say drug paraphernalia was found near the victim, but police have not determined if the shooting was drug-related.
Just three weeks ago, the $35 million complex had its grand opening. The goal of the project was to revitalize the neighborhood, but on Tuesday morning it became the scene of the city's latest homicide.
Detectives are asking anyone that may have seen or heard anything to call IMPD at 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
