(SCOTT COUNTY) - Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting a death investigation after a woman was found unresponsive at Hardy Lake in Scott County early Saturday morning.
Officers were called to the lake, which is near Scottsburg, shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving reports a female who was unresponsive in the water.
The woman was transported by boat to shore where First Aid and CPR were rendered, through efforts were unsuccessful, officers say.
A preliminary investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers has revealed the woman was not wearing a life jacket when she entered the water from a boat before she became unresponsive. Officers say the boat was occupied by a male.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. Officers say no foul play is suspected.
The cause of death and toxicology are pending, following an autopsy Saturday morning.
