(MT. VERNON) - Indiana State Police have arrested an elderly Mt. Vernon woman accused of embezzling more than $155,000.
Police say the investigation started after receiving information that 78-year old Frances Sue Terrell was allegedly stealing money from an estate.
Police say Terrell became the trustee of an estate after her employers died in March 2010.
She was to be paid $50,000 from that time until March 2012.
Terrell allegedly resigned as trustee of the estate after discrepancies were discovered by family members.
Detectives say they have determined that Terrell had compensated herself through the checking accounts of the estate and allegedly took over $155,000 without authorization.
Terrell is currently being held in the Posey County Jail on a $50,000 surety or $5,000 cash bond.
