(FISHERS) - An intoxicated Fishers man was arrested Sunday after police said he assaulted a 67-year-old neighbor.
The victim told police he was watering his lawn when he saw a black car speeding on Wilderness Trail. When he yelled for the driver to slow down, the driver stopped his car and backed into the victim's driveway.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Joel Zeller of Fishers, got out of his car and pushed the victim to the ground. When the victim stood up, Zeller pushed him again. It was then that the victim's wife called 911, police said.
When police arrived at the scene, they noticed the strong smell of alcohol coming from Zeller. According to the police report, Zeller admitted to police that he had been drinking earlier in the day. A Breathalyzer test confirmed Zeller's blood alcohol content to be 0.17 percent, twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police said.
Zeller was taken into custody at the Hamilton County Jail on DUI and battery charges.
The victim was not seriously injured.
