(SPENCER CO.) - Authorities in Indiana have arrested a Kentucky man after several women reported they were possibly drugged.
Robert Chad Edwards, 40, of Cloverport, Ky., was arrested on charges of delivering a schedule IV controlled substance, dispensing a legend drug illegally, criminal recklessness and theft.
Rockport and Indiana State Police began investigating Edwards after receiving complaints from women who believed they had been drugged.
A Spencer County woman said she met Edwards earlier this month after communicating with him on an online dating site.
"Edwards allegedly told the woman that he would cook dinner. Upon eating the meal that Edwards bought, the victim noticed an odd taste, her mouth began to burn and she began to get drowsy," Indiana State Police said in a release.
Days later, a second Spencer County woman also met with Edwards after talking with him on a dating site.
The woman said she declined dinner but accepted a drink from Edwards.
"Upon drinking it, the victim noticed the drink tasted funny and she began to have a headache," ISP said. "Before leaving her home, Edwards stole some personal items from the victim."
Neither woman was injured. Police credited them with coming forward, resulting in the arrest.
Edwards was being held in a jail in Kentucky, awaiting extradition to Indiana.
