(SHELBYVILLE) - Shelbyville police have released an initial description of a man they say attempted to abduct two children from a bus stop early Friday morning.
Police say they are looking for a white male, between 5'8" and 5'11", approximately 200 pounds. The suspect is reported as balding or with very short hair and no facial hair. Witnesses reported the suspect wearing khaki shorts and a grey or red t-shirt.
In his police report, SPD Lt. John West said he was approached by Shelbyville Middle School staff about a boy being approached near the bus stop at Third and State Streets.
The boys, both 13, said they man approached them and said, "Hey, you come here!" One of the boys alerted his grandfather, who told police he confronted the man, who then left walking north on State Street.
Several other witnesses reported seeing a man who fit the description beside a gray car with the trunk open on the 700 block of Third Street.
Police sent several units to the area, but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
