(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man was shot in the stomach during a carjacking at an east side gas station early Wednesday, police said.
The carjacking happened just before 1 a.m. at the Marathon gas station near 34th Street and Keystone Avenue. The victim was rushed to IU Methodist Hospital. His condition was not released.
Detectives said the man who shot the driver sped away in the victim's truck before crashing it nearby.
The suspect ran from the truck after the crash and police believe he's hiding out in a nearby neighborhood.
Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers set up a perimeter in the area and K-9 officers were assisting with the search.
Police said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
