Last updated on Friday, August 30, 2013

(EVANSVILLE) - State police confiscated more than a million dollars worth of marijuana plants from a home in southern Indiana.

Police received an anonymous tip about the plants at a home on Schmitt Lane in Evansville. Troopers driving past the residence observed several marijuana plants that were over six feet tall in the backyard.

When officers returned to execute a search warrant later in the afternoon, they located more than 1,500 cultivated marijuana plants in the residence and backyard. They also found more than 300 grams of marijuana that was packaged for delivery.

"The marijuana plants had a street value of approximately $1, 500,000," said Senior Trooper Scott Qualls.

Police arrested the homeowner, 50-year-old Mark Alan Hunt, on several felony charges. He is being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.

Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity is encouraged to contact the Indiana State Police at 1-800-852-3970.
