(KOKOMO) - Ten dogs died Monday after the air conditioning in a vehicle they were being transported in failed.
The Kokomo Tribune reports the dogs were being taken from Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Ind. to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Denver is just north of Kokomo.
Two dogs were treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion at an El Paso veterinarian's office and five others were not injured.
The dogs were German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. They were being taken to the facility in Texas to be trained for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
