(WHITLEY CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers said a two-year-old possibly drowned in Whitley County Saturday.
Investigators said around 1:40 p.m. the Whitley County Sheriff's Department was called to 8009 West 300 South on a possible drowning. When emergency crews arrived, they found family members performing CPR on a two-year-old boy, our sister station WANE reports.
The child was taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.
Officers said the boy was outside with family members when they realized the boy was missing just a few minutes after he was last seen. They searched the property and found the boy submerged but partially visible in a small pond.
The family members estimate that they found him less than ten minutes after they noticed he was missing.
Conservation officers think it's an accident, but it's still under investigation by the Department of Natural Resources and the Whitley County Coroner's Office. The boy's exact cause of death will be determined by the coroner. His name has not been released either.
