(ALEXANDRIA) - Two people are dead Wednesday morning after an early morning crash along State Road 9 in Madison County.
The Madison County Sheriff says the crash between the two vehicles happened just after 6:30 a.m. along State Road 9, just north of State Road 28 near Alexandria.
Authorities tell us two people were killed in the crash. Three people were taken to Community Hospital in Anderson, but there is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.
At least one person was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by Fire Department and EMS responders. The Sheriff's Department says State Road 9 in currently shut down at State Road 28 and County Road 1300 North. That stretch of State Road 9 will remain closed for some time, while they continue to go over the crash scene.
