(VINCENNES) - Elizabeth Smart, the victim of one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time, will present the keynote address to high school seniors attending a College GO! Week event at Vincennes University on Friday.
Smart was abducted on June 5, 2002, her captors had controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape.
Police safely returned Smart to her family on March 12, 2003, after she had been held prisoner for 9 months.
Smart's presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center followed by a pre-order book sale signing at 1:30 p.m.
Smart's theme will be that it is possible to overcome extreme adversity by not allowing your past to dictate your life's future.
