(MONTGOMERY CO.) - A father and his 10-year-old son were killed in a crash on Interstate 74 on Saturday afternoon, Indiana State Police said.
Max Bruner II, 42, of Crawfordsville was eastbound on I-74 near the Waynetown exit when he rear ended a semi that was pulling a flat-bed trailer loaded with steel cable.
Bruner and his son, Bradley, 10, were both pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma, police said.
Bruner's daughter, 9-year-old Sabrina, was riding in the front seat. She was extricated and airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children with life-threatening injuries.
Bruner's 3-year-old son, Max Bruner III, was in a child safety seat and suffered only minor injuries.
Police said everyone in the 2000 Chevrolet Venture was buckled in, but Bradley's was wearing only the lap belt and not the shoulder harness.
