(GIBSON COUNTY) - A Patoka man who admitted to shooting and killing his neighbor’s family dog in May has been sentenced.
Jeffrey Priest pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness, killing a domestic animal, and mischief.
A special judge from Pike County sentenced Priest to 12 months, suspended to probation.
He also had to pay the owner of the pit bull $200 restitution and is prohibited from possessing a firearm during his probation.
The family received an enormous amount of local support during a Justice for Jack campaign.
Priest apologized and told 14 News he didn't know Jack was a family pet.
