Middleton Man Arrested After Slapping 3-Year-Old Son

Last updated on Thursday, September 5, 2013

(MIDDLETON) - A Middleton man was arrested for violent actions while attempting to correct his son’s grammar.

Police say Kenneth Webb, 29, slapped his son, 3, on both cheeks on Aug. 28 after he used the wrong sentence structure when asking if he may please have something. The incident wasn't reported until the following day.

Webb told police he picked up his son so he would be eye level with him while talking to him. He said his son wouldn't look at him so he slapped him twice.

About 20 minutes later, Webb's mother came home and noticed slap marks across the boy's face on both cheeks. When Webb's mother asked what happened, he told her slapped him but didn't realize that he hit him that hard.

After police questioned Webb, he was placed under arrest and a no contact order was put in place. The boy was checked out at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and was later released.

Police say Webb has a history of a violent temper.

He has been charged with neglect of a dependent, a Class C felony; and battery, a Class D felony.
