(CARMEL) - The Carmel Clay School District issued alert for families after administrators say a man approached teen girls around Hamilton County.
The district says the man gave the teens his phone number and other social media information.
The man was not seen around Carmel schools, but teachers will talk with students about this man and how they should respond if approached.
While police investigate, the district also sent parents a letter asking them to talk to their kids about reporting anything suspicious to police or another adult.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says, if parents are unsure how to start the conversation, ask questions like:
Do you and your friends stay together when you go out?
What would you do if someone approached you on foot or in a car?
Do you know what to do if someone tries to touch or grab you?
Regarding social media, ask questions like:
What information do you share online?
What pictures and comments do you post online?
Are you comfortable knowing your posts could be seen by your high school, potential colleges and employers?
