(ANDERSON) - A severely burned central Indiana woman has died three months after suffering the injuries in what her family has claimed was an attack inside her home.
Anderson police detective Joel Sandefur says investigators were able to talk briefly with 38-year-old Melanie Lyons before she died Monday.
Sandefur tells The Herald-Bulletin that the July 10 fire remains under investigation and that no arrests have been made. Police have said Lyons was sleeping on a living room couch when she awoke on fire about 1 a.m.
Sonya Troub has said she believes a jailed man whom her daughter was to testify against in a child molesting case arranged the attack. Lyons was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital's burn unit in Indianapolis with burns on 90 percent of her body.
