(COLUMBUS) - Columbus Police are searching for a would-be rapist.
Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Matt Myers says the assault took place late Thursday morning in the 1300 block of Blackhawk Drive in Tipton Lakes. The victim, a 65-year-old woman, told police that a Hispanic male came to her home offering to do yard work. When she told him that she was not interested, the man forced his way inside her home. Once inside, the suspect allegedly held the victim down by the throat and tried to assault her sexually. During the attack, the victim told police that she was able to bite the attacker's hand and fight him off.
The suspect then fled from the home in a silver colored car. He is described as Hispanic, approximately 5'7" tall with short, brown short hair and a goatee. He was wearing a green t-shirt and blue jeans. The victim told police that her attacker also had a tattoo of a flower near his wrist. The suspect should have a bite wound on one of his hands between the thumb and index finger.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact Sgt. Tom Foust at 376-2642. Police are also reminding residents to keep solicitors outside of their homes when speaking with them. Myers adds that officers have increased patrols in the Tipton Lakes area.
