(FRANKLIN) - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accidental shooting that took place Thursday morning.
Sheriff Doug Cox says 55-year-old Glenn Johnson, of Franklin, accidentally shot himself in the finger while trying to take a gun apart to clean.
Johnson told authorities that when he started to take the gun apart, he took the magazine out of the gun and then went to separate the slide from the frame. When he did this, he did not check to see if the chamber was empty. Johnson pulled the trigger and the gun went off striking him in the left index finger.
Johnson was treated at Johnson Memorial Hospital.
No charges are expected as a result of this accident.
