(GREENWOOD) - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest in the recent burglary and theft from a home in Greenwood.
Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of North Windmill Trail Wednesday afternoon. The owner of the home told police that numerous items, including several guns, were missing from the home.
The homeowner suspected her 16-year-old grandson was involved. She told authorities that some of the stolen items, including a laptop computer and baseball cards, were found outside of the boy's Indianapolis home. Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says the grandson was interviewed by police and admitted to his involvement in the burglary. All the property including the firearms has been recovered. Sheriff Cox says that authorities had to go to several places where the guns had been sold in order to recover them.
He adds that those individuals involved in the burglary could also face charges in Indianapolis. Cox says investigators have interviewed two other juveniles for being with the 16-year-old during the burglary and during the sale of the guns. The decision on whether to press criminal charges against them is pending.
