(EVANSVILLE) - An EVSC teacher is recovering after authorities said she was injured by one of her students.
According to Evansville Police, the incident happened October 3 at Lincoln School in a "self contained classroom."
It started when the 11-year-old student was causing a disturbance in class.
When the teacher, 31-year old Desiree Wisser tried to calm the student, officers said the student punched her in the arm and chest.
The assistant in the classroom pushed the call button and asked for help from the office.
Wisser said the student then punched her again in the chest, bit her wrist and punched her in the mouth.
Wisser told authorities she believed she lost consciousness.
Police said the teacher was taken to Deaconess Comp Center where she was treated for her injuries and underwent a CT scan.
Wisser said she was told she had symptoms of a mild concussion.
