Trail Improvement Under Way At Fort Harrison State Park

Last updated on Tuesday, October 29, 2013

(FORT HARRISON) - Trail improvement under way at Fort Harrison State Park.

Effective immediately, the middle portion of the popular Fall Creek Trail at Fort Harrison State Park will be closed for improvements for about 30 days.

The eastern and western portions of Fall Creek Trail will remain open, and can be accessed via the Harrison Trace paved trail. The project will widen the trail to better accommodate two-way traffic and to provide additional trail-edge definition.

Plenty of recreational opportunities inside the nearly 1,800-acre park will remain available to visitors, including fishing, bicycling and hiking. For hikers, the Fall Creek Trail closure is an opportunity to explore the park's other six trails, which comprise about 10 miles and include the paved Harrison Trace Trail, the multi-use Schoen Creek Trail and four other natural surface hiking trails.

The closed section of Fall Creek Trail will be marked with signs.

For more information, call (317) 591-0904. Fort Harrison State Park is at 5753 Glenn Road, Indianapolis, 46216.
