(STEUBEN CO.) - Officials say two construction workers were badly hurt when the hydraulic lift they were inside was hit by a semitrailer on Interstate 69 in northeastern Indiana.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says the workers were on the lift underneath a bridge over the highway near Angola when it was hit Thursday.
Sheriff's Sgt. Phil Nott tells The Herald Republican the semi driver told police he had slowed in the construction zone when the truck's passenger side hit the lift's bucket.
The impact knocked worker Brandon Morris of Columbia City onto the roadway, while Ted Cook of Marion remained inside the bucket. Nott says both were taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious to critical condition.
Both men work for Pioneer Associates of Albion.
