(CANNELTON) - On Sunday at 12:56 p.m. the Cannelton Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle accident where a child darted into traffic and was hit by a vehicle.
WITZ reports, the accident occurred in the 300 Block of South 7th Street which is also State Road 66.
Cory James, 21 of rural Cannelton was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound when the child entered the roadway from in front of a parked vehicle.
Injured in the accident was 11-year-old Lucian Knotts, of Cannelton.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene and Knotts was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville and was listed in critical condition.
The roadway was closed for approximately one hour.
