(VIGO CO.) - Rescue crews in Vigo County were called to the Riley area for a report of a child who had fallen into a well on Saturday evening.
A 10-year-old girl was playing in the backyard with her family when the concrete well cover she was standing on broke.
The girl fell about 15 feet into the well below, but was not badly hurt.
Responders arrived and found the child calm and holding onto the well piping.
Because the girl was able to remain calm, responders were able to lower a ladder for the child to climb up and then be pulled out within minutes.
The girl was able to walk away with only minor scrapes and bruises.
