(UNDATED) - The good news is drivers will receive a holiday bonus in the form of lower gas prices, according to AAA Chief Operating Officer Marshall L. Doney.
AAA predicts prices at the pump will be below $3 in most states, the lowest prices for the holiday in 3 years.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.20, about 21 cents less than a year ago.
"If gas prices weren't as low as they are, things probably would have been flat compared to last year. With the low gas prices, people have more incentive to travel," says Jim Bak, director of community relations for INRIX a traffic-congestion tracking firm.
Experts expect gas prices to continue to fall over the course of the next few months.
CEA energy experts are available to discuss more about these low gas prices and what we can expect to pay at the pump throughout the rest of the winter season.
