(KOKOMO) - A Kokomo man is facing charges after police say he was drunk behind the wheel of a school bus.
A witness reported seeing William Tucker, a substitute driver, acting suspiciously. School leaders moved quickly to take Tucker off their list after receiving the tip.
When a school police officer checked out the tip, Tucker was tested for alcohol and arrested. Jail records show he was charged with operating while intoxicated.
"From the time our transportation supervisor was alerted concerning the citizen's suspicion until Mr. Tucker's arrest, no children were on the bus," the transportation department said in a statement to Eyewitness News.
The statement continued to say no children were present or in danger during the incident.
The department says Tucker has been removed from the substitute driver list. He paid a bond of $800 a day after he was arrested.
