(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette man was arrested in connection with an arson that killed a 6-year-old Lafayette girl Saturday morning.
FOX59 News reports that crews were called to the scene in the 2700 block of Schuyler Ave around 1 a.m.
The residents of the house, David Trueblood and Ryan Moynagh, were home at the time of the fire.
Police said 6-year-old Katelyn Lane was left in Trueblood's custody by girl's mother Friday.
Lane was taken to IU Health and later died from injuries related to the fire.
Trueblood was taken to Elizabeth East, where he remains in serious condition due to burns and smoke inhalation.
Moynagh was arrested on a preliminary charge of arson causing death and transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
