(FAYETTE CO.) - A 13-year-old girl in Fayette County was injured when her gun exploded while she was deer hunting.
The incident occurred around 9 am on Sunday.
The girl suffered a non-life threatening injury to her upper extremities, and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was first on the scene of the accident, and the investigation was turned over to Indiana Conservation Officers.
The firearm that exploded was a single-shot, break action 20-gauge firearm.
Why the gun exploded is still under investigation.
