(GARY) - An abortion doctor who had nearly 500 complaints filed against him in Allen County earlier this year, now faces over 600 more complaints in Lake County.
Representatives from Indiana Right to Life and Lake County Right to Life announced Tuesday that 626 complaints were field against Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, an abortion doctor at Friendship Family Planning in Gary.
The complaints, submitted by 20 northwest Indiana women, allege errors and omissions in various terminated pregnancy reports submitted to the Indiana State Department of Health.
Indiana Right to Life says it reviewed every report for abortions, which are available to the public, between July 2011 and June 2013. The organization says each report had between one and 15 errors or omissions.
The complaints were sent to the Indiana Attorney General's office and the Lake County Prosecutor's office. Those who filed the complaints are asking for the immediate suspension of Klopfer's medical license pending further investigation.
Indiana law says failure to complete and submit a report on time is a class B misdemeanor.
In September, complaints were filed in Allen County which stated Klopfer failed to report an abortion performed on a 13-year-old girl to the State Department of Heath and the Department of Child Services.
State law requires a physician performing an abortion on a patient less than 14-years-old to file a report within three days of the procedure.
