(TASWELL) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred off S.R. 64 near Taswell Saturday night.
62-year-old John Vausha, of Ramsey, died after his vehicle veered from the roadway for an unknown reason and submerged in a nearby pond.
An autopsy was performed Sunday afternoon at Harrison County Hospital. An official cause of death was determined. According to the Harrison County Coroner, John Vausha died as a result of cardiac arrest prior to entering the water.
Shortly before 7 p.m., Crawford County Dispatch received a call from a witness that had observed Vausha's vehicle leave the roadway and enter the pond. Members of the English Fire Department responded and were able to extricate Vausha, who was unresponsive.
Indiana Conservation Officers responded with divers, along with the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, and Crawford County EMS. Vausha was airlifted to Harrison County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
