(EVANSVILLE) - An Evansville police officer who was named officer of the year in 2012 has been fired after allegations he made unwanted advances toward a bartender while on duty.
The "Evansville Courier & Press" reports Steve Hicks was fired by the Police Merit Commission after a Monday hearing.
Hicks denied Lisa Turpen's allegations that he went behind the bar at Rick's 718 Bar in September and touched her several times and grabbed her tank top.
Chief Billy Bolin suspended him without pay and recommended Hicks be fired.
