(WESTFIELD) - Westfield Police now say that they have a person of interest in a double homicide that happened Friday and that it was the result of home invasion robbery.
Investigators have found that the robbery and murders occurred during the midday hours on Friday in the 15000 block of Oak Park Court and there was no evidence of forced entry. Both victims, Marylyn and Kelley Erb, died of blunt force trauma.
During this investigation, police have identified a person of interest and would like the community's assistance with identifying the individual.
Police are also seeking help from the public to provide any further information that could help solve this case. As a result, they are asking the public to report suspicious persons or activities observed in the area on Friday to the police.
Westfield Mayor Andy Cook has allowed the City of Westfield to dedicate all of its resources to help solve this case.
"The police department has been working around the clock to find who is responsible for this and will continue to do so," says Mayor Andy Cook. "Residents should entrust that the police department and the city's primary goal is safe city and that hasn't changed. The evidence is being released to the public as quickly as it can be. I ask the city to be patient, but also diligent citizens and if they know anything to contact police."
The Westfield Police Department would like to advise the public to stay vigilant in reporting and to contact the Westfield Criminal Investigations Division at (317) 773-1300 or to remain anonymous Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477) with any information.
