(UNDATED) - There’s high support for legalizing marijuana, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.
The poll shows that 55 percent of Americans surveyed say marijuana should be made legal, while 44 percent do not.
Thirty-five percent believe smoking marijuana is morally wrong, a big drop from 70 percent in 1987.
The survey found Republicans and southerners are the only major demographic groups who still oppose the legal use of pot.
More than 1,000 adults nationwide were questioned the overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.
