(HAMMOND) - Five school principals in Hammond may be without a job after they received notices this week due to the new accountability rules tied to Indiana’s 2012 No Child Left Behind waiver.
The principals of Hammond High and Edison, Harding, Hess and Irving elementary schools could be reassigned to non instructional leadership roles, but they won't know until the school board takes action next month.
Under state law, schools that consistently score an F are considered priority schools, and under the federal No Child Left Behind waiver priority schools call for a replacement of principles or evidence that they can lead a turnaround.
