(GREENSBURG) - A Greensburg woman was arrested Wednesday on fraud charges after police accused her of transferring money from her employer’s bank account into her own.
Indiana State Police said Laurie Swegman, 47, worked as a treasurer for the Adams Township Fire Department in Decatur County. An internal audit revealed that suspicious transactions from fire department's account took place over a two-year period between Aug. 2011 and Oct. 2013.
Investigators claimed Swegman illegally transferred $47,000 from the fire department's account into her personal accounts or accounts of her children on 93 different occasions.
Swegman was taken into custody Wednesday after a warrant was issued from Decatur County Circuit Court. She posted a $30,000 bond and was released, police said.
Swegman's current employment status with the Adams Township Fire Department was not released.
