(UNDATED) - A highly-respected Hoosier legal scholar is bound for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Gary Roberts is dean emeritus of the IUPUI Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He leaves Tuesday for the world sporting spectacle where he'll serve as one of nine arbitrators on the special tribunal that will settle any legal disputes that may come up during the games.
Roberts is an expert in sports law and says he's never been to Russia so he's excited to go and bring his wife along.
Roberts says he has no concerns about terrorism. He says he thinks it'll likely be one of the safest places in the world during that two-week period. He says terrorists may have already succeeded in frightening people which should not be the case.
Roberts adds it's not his role to get involved in human rights issues in Russia. He says he'll be there to focus on the tribunal.
