(FORT WAYNE) - An Indiana optical firm is poised to be the first in the world to bring the first editions of “Google Glass.”
Longe Optical says it'll be providing the digital prescription lenses made in Fort Wayne for Google.
Google Glass includes a built-in, interactive, smartphone-like display with voice command, Bluetooth and WiFi. It'll also be compatible with Apple iOS and Android mobile devices.
Indianapolis-based internet culture expert Steven Shattuck says he thinks the glasses will catch on given Google's persuasive marketing ability and other factors.
However, Shattuck says it's not likely they'll be easily affordable. He says during Google Glass beta phase, testers had to pay $1000 for them and travel to California to get them. Shattuck says the price will eventually come down.
No word on when they'll be available to the general public.
