(INDIANAPOLIS) - An 18-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested early Tuesday after a police chase though Johnson County that ended in a crash at a Marion County home, dispatchers said.
Police said the chase started in Greenwood about 4:30 a.m. after Johnson County 911 dispatchers said they received a call about a suspicious and possibly intoxicated driver near State Road 135 near Stone Crossing Road. A Johnson County Sheriff's Deputy began following the silver Honda and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle disobeyed.
The chase continued north on State Road 135 onto County Line Road before the vehicle lost control near Stop 11 and Railroad Rd. The police officer involved in the chase crashed into a Perry Township home near the 8500 block Royal Meadow Drive. The driver and a passenger--two men-- jumped out of the car and ran toward the nearby railroad tracks. Police eventually caught up with the driver who was identified as Cameron Bradley Harmon, 18, of Indianapolis. The passenger escaped.
Investigators said they found a bottle of pills when taking Harmon into custody. He admitted running from police because the car he was driving was stolen and he didn't have a license. When police searched the stolen vehicle, they found miscellaneous stolen items inside.
Harmon was taken to the Johnson County Jail on charges of auto theft, possession of controlled substances, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.
No injuries were reported.
