(MUNCIE) - A central Indiana man said little to a judge as he made an initial court appearance on charges he fatally shot his landlord.
58-year-old William Martz of Eaton didn't say anything as he was led into a Delaware County court on Tuesday. The Star Press reports that Martz only answered questions from the judge.
Martz faces murder charges for the Jan. 11 shooting death of 50-year-old Mark Gilland of Eaton. Authorities say family members found Gilland's body in a barn in the small town about 10 miles north of Muncie .
Family members told investigators that Gilland had gone to the property to evict Martz, whom he had allowed to live without rent in a camper there.
Martz was arrested the next day at a Muncie motel.
