(RIPLEY CO.) - One person is dead and two people were injured after a car crashed early Sunday morning in southeast Indiana.
Indiana State Police say at roughly 3:30 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to a crash on State Road 129 just north of County Road 300 North.
According to an ISP report, a minivan, driven by 32-year-old Zachary Smith, of Versailles, was headed north on SR 129 weaving all over the roadway when it left the west side of the road and entered a ditch, where it overturned several times and ejected the driver and the front seat passenger. That passenger was 54-year-old Jessie Windell, of Versailles. The second passenger in the car was 23-year-old Casey Sentell, of Versailles.
All three people were taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, but Smith died en route to the hospital.
Windell and Sentell were both treated for neck and back pain.
ISP investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, and that the wreck was not weather-related.
