(INDIANAPOLIS) - HB1341, a bill would require scooters to be registered with the BMV and have some sort of license plate, passed 9-0 in committee Tuesday.
The proposal does not mandate that drivers be licensed or have insurance like some local officials have wanted.
Last year, Evansville Police handled nearly 300 cases of scooter theft. Many of those scooters were never recovered.
