(UNDATED) - Indiana’s Director of Consumer Protection says the state has been getting complaints about a home security scam.
Abby Kuzma says her office has gotten about 150 complaints so far from Hoosiers who say they've been getting calls from very high pressure sales people urging them to buy home security systems. The callers claims things like crime is on the rise in their community or their current service provider has gone out of business.
Kuzma says these are scare tactics and some of the calls are robocalls which are illegal in Indiana. She says consumers hang up especially if they're on the state's "Do Not Call" List.
Kuzma says they've already won a $4.37 million judgment against one man named Justin Ramsey who she says acted as a "lead generator" for other out of state firms.
