(VALPARAISO) - A former NFL player says he can prove he bought the equipment he’s charged with stealing from a northwestern Indiana health club business he managed.
39-year-old Jared Tomich of Schererville faces felony theft charges in Porter County over what authorities say was $8,200 in equipment missing from Valpo Fitness in Valparaiso.
Authorities say those items included exercise and office equipment and satellite radios. Police reported finding some of the equipment at a gym Tomich opened after the owners of Valpo Fitness closed it.
Tomich tells The Times of Munster he has receipts for the items and the dispute should've been handled between businesses.
Tomich graduated from Lake Central High School and was a defensive end in the NFL from 1997 through 2002, playing for New Orleans and Green Bay.
