(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis is nearing a record for snowfall for a winter season, and it’s possible the record will be broken Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The 5.5 inches of snow that fell at Indianapolis International Airport on Friday brings the seasonal total (December-February) to 50.5 inches. That's just a half-inch short of the all-time record of 51.0 inches of snow that fell during the 1981-1982 winter.
For the entire snow year, measured from July 1-June 30 each year, Indianapolis stands at 50.6 inches, the fourth-highest all-time.
The highest of all-time is 1981-1982 which had 58.2 inches of snow.
