(LEBANON) - Officials with the Lebanon Community School Corporation have confirmed to RTV6 in Indy that a school nurse at Lebanon Middle School had been arrested.
Leah Rutan, 42, was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent and other drug-related offenses.
School officials said Rutan, also a cheerleading coach, has been relieved of her duties and was on unpaid suspension until the investigation is complete.
Superintendent Robert Taylor said the alleged offenses did not happen on school property and had nothing to do with her job or responsibilities involving students.
Officials said safety is their top priority and if Rutan is found guilty, the appropriate action will be taken.
