(CLAY COUNTY) - A Brazil man faces multiple felony charges after holding his passengers captive and leading police on a high speed chase through two counties last week.
21-year-old Joseph Dahlstrom is charged with criminal confinement, resisting law enforcement and criminal recklessness after failing to stop for a traffic stop.
On February 5, a Clay County Sheriff attempted to pull over Dahlstrom's truck after noticing the front-seat occupants weren't wearing seatbelts and were acting nervous.
Dahlstrom initially slowed, but then took off, blowing through stop signs and signals.
Indiana State troopers in Putnam county tried to use stop-sticks twice, however Dahlstrom crossed over the median of the highway. He eventually lost control and ran on foot. Deputies later found him under a trailer and arrested him.
Along with the new charges, Dahlstrom is also wanted for failure to pay child support and on burglary charges. He is being held on $50,000 bond and has an initial hearing on Monday.
