(MARION) - A small plane crashed at the Marion Municipal Airport Saturday afternoon while trying to land and sent the pilot to the hospital.
The Marion Police Department Communications Center received a 911 call at 1:33 pm Saturday from the pilot of an air plane that had attempted to land at the Marion Municipal Airport. The pilot told the dispatcher he had crashed while landing and need assistance.
When emergency crews arrived the plane was on its top but the pilot was freed from the aircraft and was taken to Marion General Hospital. The last report from the Marion General Hospital was the pilot suffered some cuts and scrapes but would be released soon.
