(INDIANAPOLIS) - A United States postal worker is facing charges for reportedly sexually assaulting a woman along his route.
RTV6 reports that an employee at a business in the 1600 block of West Oliver Avenue told police a mailman came to her customer window on Friday afternoon and made inappropriate advances and asked her to perform various sex acts.
The man left, but he later returned and knocked on the office's back door, police said.
The woman told police she answered the door because she thought her coworker was returning from lunch, but it was the postal worker at the door. She told police the man forced his way into the office and sexually assaulted her.
Charles Helton, 36, of Indianapolis, was detained about two blocks away after the woman's boss called police to report the assault and arrested on preliminary charges.
Sources confirmed to RTV6 that Helton is a postal carrier, though the United State Postal Service would not.
The USPS issued the following statement: "The Postal Service respects the confidentiality and privacy of our employees and cannot comment on this situation."
